Gallery exhibition featuring the work of six contemporary sculptors working in a variety of unusual materials. Work by Anthony Garner, Roland Ginzel, Terrence Lavin, Roger Phillips, Victoria Palermo, and Joy Taylor. Curated by Gwenn Mayers and Nancy VanDeren. Exhibition continues through May 6, 2007. SPOKEN WORD: "ARCHY AND MEHITABEL"
7:30PM - $15/$12 members
Actor Steven Gilborn brings this wonderful and funny piece based on the work of Don Marquis, a columnist for the New York Sun in the 1920's and 30's. Archy is a cockroach and vers libre poet who details his adventures, opinions and philosophy and his ongoing ambivalent relationship to Mehitabel, an alley cat with a celebrated past. Artists in residence at the Millay Colony for the Arts share their work with members of the community in a relaxed and informal setting. The Colony hosts visual artists, writers, poets, and composers at Steepletop, the historic home of poet Edna St. Vincent Millay. WORLD MUSIC: SIMON SHAHEEN AND NEAR EASTERN MUSIC ENSEMBLE

Seven extraordinary musicians have gathered from around the Arab World to preserve and perform a rich and elaborate music repertoire and to increase the awareness and appreciation of Near Eastern music. They perform the full repertoire of Near Eastern music—from traditional classical and folkloric music to new works by living composers of contemporary and innovative Near Eastern music. This concert is supported by The New York State Music Fund, established by the New York State Attorney General at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. Gallery talk by artist Victoria Palermo whose work is currently on view in the gallery. Palermo creates abstract sculptures in grass, moss, and natural rubber.
