Spencertown Academy Art Center’s fifth annual Festival of Books takes as its theme "books that changed my world." This simple but powerful idea was suggested by writer Susan Orlean in a recent on-line musing that quickly became one of the most talked about topics in the social media world with tens of thousands of people sharing the books that changed their lives - from time-honored classics to contemporary fiction, from math textbooks to the Bible. Join us as we explore how books change our world with distinguished authors including keynote speaker Susan Orlean, Ann Hood, Madhur Jaffrey, Emily Arnold McCully, and many more. The Festival also features an extraordinary used book sale featuring over 10,000 gently used volumes meticulously sorted and organized for easy browsing; a gallery exhibition of work by legendary photographer Abelardo Morell; special activities for children; the Cookbook Cafe; and the Books & Blues BBQ.
